Five Things To Do In Kasauli

I have travelled alone, with family, with strangers, with friends but never with my colleagues. So, it was a big feat that after working for seven years in the same organization, finally the plan to travel with them materialized. There were many conditions that had to be kept in mind, like place to stay, the hour of arrival, places to see, budget, mode of transportation, time of depature etc. It had to be very specific as the people I was travelling with, this whole experience of travelling like I do was alien.

Crossing all the hurdles, the group was determined that this trip has to happen, come what may. And, with everybody`s effort it did. We started on a Friday afternoon and reached Hotel Hill Pride at 9.30 pm, the road condition was very good, we went via Panchkula. It took us around 7 hours including a tea break at Karnal.

I am going to jot down snippets from my experience at Kasuali, Himachal Pradesh. Listing down five things that you can do there:

1.Shop at the Mall Road

Lower Mall road offers a variety of shopping options from Tibetan shops selling clothes to  fresh organic produce of vegetables and fruits, buy sounevirs for loved ones or stock your car with fruit wine, jam and marmalade. You can also visit the Heritage Market down the road, you can savour samosa and jalebi from the many eateries lined up here, buy little knick knacks for your home, or just take a stroll. At the entrance is also Christ church where you can attend Sunday Mass if you happen to be there over the weekend.

2.Find solace at Menri Dholanji Monastery

Around 38 kms from Kasuali, Menri Monastery in the Solan district near Ochhghat is a must visit place. The landscape is splendid from the top of the Monastery.

3.Toy Train Ride from Dharampur

You just cant miss the toy train experience if you are here, Kasuali doesnt have a railway station of its own. Head to Dharampur station to catch your ride, you can take a short ride till Barog or a long one till Shimla.

4.Chill at Hangout Cafe

The food is good, ambience is amazing and the the whole place comes alive at night. After 10 pm, they host a silent music party where one can rent a headphone to enjoy the music.

5.Watch the Sun go down at Sunset Point

To witness the mesmerizing sunset, walk uphill for 1 km from Mall Road. Its pretty crowded on weekends, to avoid the rush you can walk a little further towards Lover`s lane to enjoy picturesque sceneries.

Other places of interest in Kasuali are Gilbert Nature Trail, Mohan Meakin Brewery, Fort beja State and Parwanoo cable car.

The trip was a success, we all came back happy and content. Looking forward to more such trips with these lovely ladies.

    1. You are most welcome. Do visit Hangout cafe, it’s quite happening in the evening and after 10 pm they host silent DJ nights with headphones…pretty awesome
